Photo of the Day!
What could be better than your first Birthday! All the attention of family and friends plus some pretty sweet gifts and a big cake just for you. We celebrated little Rowan's 1st Birthday this past weekend, man a year goes by quick. All with D700 and SB80 either in my hand or on a lightstand and triggered with my ebay radio slaves. Lens was my Sigma 15-30. All photos here.
New flash Radio triggers...
Just got some new wireless triggers for my flash photography, these are supposed to have a little more range than my current models. They are made by Yongnuo, model RF-602, I bought the three receivers and one trigger for $82.00. They come with coiled cords with Nikon 10 pin end to let you trigger your camera or flash and a coiled 1/4 " jack for bigger studio flashes, even shipped with Duracell AA, looks like a good deal. The build feels great, finish and packaging is excellent, my current ebay triggers always felt a little cheap(they have worked pretty well for the past couple years). I will be putting these through their paces in the next few days.

Sense of freedom and isolation high in the sky. I just love the simplicity of this photo. D700 and Nikon 80-200, processed in Lightroom.

Montreal - Beautiful part of our history
With our good friends we ditched the kids for a 24 hour getaway and headed up the road to Montreal. I lived here for a couple years while I worked as a tech illustrator for Canadair. Montreal is an amazing place and always has something interesting to see or enjoy. We enjoyed shopping on Saint Catherines, some good meals and the ambiance of the big city, all the while not having to watch out for little feet or fingers getting into trouble. Old Montreal is about as close you can get to Europe without the expensive flight.
Here are a few shots, the rest are here.

Black and Blue's Hallows Eve Tour!
Black and Blue were out on tour on Halloween, first stop was supper and trick or treating in the suburbs of Kanata. Black played some spooky slide guitar to entertain the little trick or treaters on a breezy night. We headed out to a house party hosted by Blacks friend Tina. All sorts of great costumes and lots of laughs, even a little Bullwhip action!
Enjoy!

Photo of the Day!
This fellow fell out of the canoe as I loaded it onto the rack on the truck. Grabed my camera and luckily had my macro lens already mounted and ready to go. He was a very patient subject, didinèt mind me moving in for a shot with available light. Nikon D700 with old 55mm macro manual focus lens.

Metal Soldiers - Canada's National War monument
I was out for a walk around our National War monument and decided to capture the beauty of the sculptures that make up a large component of this shrine. The figures are fantastic and very beautiful, the detail is amazing.

Gatineau Park - Old Wilson Carbide mill hike
The Faubert's and Melmoth gang went for a hike in Gatineau Park, we headed to the site of the old Wilson Carbide Mill ruins. It is located about 2km off the P11 parking lot near Meech lake. The leaves were beautiful and the air was clear and crisp. We had he place virtually to ourselves, only a small group of photographers from Brockville showed up just before we turned around for the trek back to the cars.

Busy Thanksgiving weekend...

I was able to do quite a few interesting things this past weekend. Besides celebrating Thanksgiving with Family and friends, I was able to enjoy shooting some photos. As much as I love photography nothing compares to the smell and tastes of Thanksgiving! I could eat turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy everyday, man what a combo.
Saturday evening I visited a house party that was actually a pig roast and mini music fest, my good friend Scott was invited so I tagged along. Great group of people out there as well as some seasoned musicians. They had a full PA setup in the barn, even a light setup.

Party photos here.
Sunday saw us out at my brothers place(farm) for Thanksgiving dinner. Lots of fun with the whole Faubert crew, some hiking, soccer and dinner.

Thanksgiving photos here.
On Monday we headed out to the Mill of Kintail Consevation area to hike around and enjoy some of the fall colours. Love this place! Went by Blakeny rapids to complete the outdoor activities for the weekend.

Mill of Kintail photos here.
All in all a fantastic thanksgiving weekend!

Photo of the Day!

Rivyr and I met up with Tim and the boys for the first skate of the season at a public arna in Orleans last Sunday. Felt good to get out and do some different type of activity, however teh feet have informed me it is time to get some proper fitting skates. I love to skate but my wide feet don't get along with my narrow skates, off to Play It Again Sports!
