Photo of the Day!

Early morning fog on Lac Munro in Parc Tremblant. Tim looks as though he is paddling in a cloud as the morning sun burns through the heavy mist on a spectacular fall morning. Shot with D700 and Nikon 80-200mm.

Hockeys back!!!!

I am very excited as another hockey season gets under way here in Ottawa. I like the team that we have here, a couple new additions to the line up, I think we be a much better team this season Here are some shots from a recent preseason game I attended with my father. We had the luxury of sitting in a private box, near center ice, plus free drinks and snacks, doesen't get much better than that. I brought my D700 with a mf 20mm and mf 135mm with me. Ottawa won 6-1. Go Sens Go!!!

Don't you wish sometimes you could just say screw it all and do what ever you wanted! Those times are many but the realities of day to day life keep us grounded and inline. This photo reminds me of that sense of freedom, nothing matters but the moment, just let all your cares float away in a single adrenaline induced rush! The simple things are the best. Shot with Nikon D700 and Nikon 80-200 f2.8 .

Walks on the Farm...

My brother and his family live out on his wife's family farm, I love going out for a visit and wandering around on the property. There is an amazing amount of things that inspire me to get the camera out and make some images. The colours, variety and selection of stuff to photograph is endless, plus the fact that it is very relaxing out there. I love how time seems to slow down when I am out for a walk, no sense of urgency, just going with the flow. Here are a few images from last Saturday. More here.

The old Massey Ferguson in the shed at my brothers place. I love going into this building, the light is fantastic and there are so many things to photograph. The place is stuffed with amazing things, you could explore forever, it is hard to not find something to photograph. One downside is the extremly large spiders! They freak me out, some I have seen with abdomens over 1 inch in diameter, very creepy creatures.

Ann-Marie, Rivyr and I at the Richmond fair.

We took in the Richmond Fair last Thursday evening, entrance was free and rides were a flat $2.00, great deal! First we had a taste of the carnival delicacies(pizza, shwarma, blooming onion, and soft drinks), just to steel our stomachs. Rivyr enjoyed her first ferris wheel ride, it offered some great views of the fairgrounds, and I happened to have my camera(imagine that!). We were only there for 1.5 hours but I was still able to capture some images of Rivyr enjoying herself plus a few extras, enjoy!

A beautiful evening along the Ottawa river at Shirley's Bay, clear sky and warm temps made for a great evening paddle with my buddy Geoff. As the sun dropped we were treated to a fantastic blast of colour, the water was smooth as glass as we paddle around in the last rays of the setting sun. More photos here.

I had shot a series of formal portraits of several of my co workers and we just started to have a little fun creating some not so formal portraits. This image was shot with a Nikon D200 and 24-120mm Nikon lens. Photo was converted to B/W in Adobe Lightroom.

Another fantastic September Day

Spent the afternoon in Gatineau park at Lac Lapeche. The weather was fantastic, seems that September will be mostly like this, even were in swimming. The lake temperature is still very warm, hope this holds for a while. Lots of folks out canoeing and kayaking, but the beach itself was relatively empty. Kids had a blast, we stoped for Pogo’s ,grilled cheese and poutine on the way home, plus we pulled in to a quarry where they operate a bungy jumping business. Not a bad day all round! Campout on Labour day weekend - Higley Flow State Park

We traveled to Higley Flow State park to camp with friends and their families over the Labour Day weekend. Campsites were in Loop C, same area as the May long weekend, but we were a little bigger group this time. Activities for the kids included bike riding, park time, sand castle building , "Canoe rescue", tie die session, horseshoe, etc., the kids had a blast! A large gang of kids meant the parents were free to hang out and enjoy some cold beverages and chat. Mother nature really came through with the weather, hot and sunny, clear blue skies for the whole weekend, certainly a first this summer. More photos here.

Mud Lake, in the Britannia area of Ottawa

We headed out to explore a small lake in the Britannia area that was featured in a recent edition of the Ottawa Sun newspaper last weekend. It is a beautiful maintained trail that circles the lake. During our hike we encountered many different types of forest, brush and wetland conditions. This will be a great place to go and take shots once the leaves change colours.

Rivyr goes back to school!
