Summer holidays in July!!!

First 4 days of this week have been a blast. Spent them up on the Ottawa river at Wilderness Tours. We were able to take Rivyr on her first overnight canoe camping trip, she loved it. Spent a lot of time fishing, swimming and generally relaxing. Nice!  More photos here.

Iron Maiden - Live in Ottawa

Went to see a great opening show at this years Cisco Bluesfest in Ottawa. None other than Iron maiden, heavy metal gods from my high school days. They still sound amazing 25 years later. Shot all images over my head using the live view feature of my D700, only way to do it as it was a packed house. Used my old Nikon 200 f4 manual focus lens for almost all images, awesome piece of glass for the mere $100.00 I picked it up for. View more of my shots here.

Medieval Festival - Osgoode, Ontario

Luck came my way as I found out about a wonderful event happening in a small village not far from home this past weekend. The third annual Kingdom of Osgoode Medieval Festival was in full swing. We went on the Saturday and were entertained by displays of archery, dancing, period music, combat and my personal favorite the Joust. The costumes were amazing an all those participating were very great ambassadors for the their hobby and could provide tons of historical information. There was an evening feast but it was sold out, I will try to attend this next year. More event photos here.
